FERBERITE (Iron Tungstate) | Boulder County, Colorado, USA

Ferberite is a black, dense iron tungstate mineral (FeWO4) and the iron-rich endmember of the wolframite group, making it a primary ore of tungsten. Tungsten plays a vital role in the production of metal alloys, filament wire for lighting, ballistics, aerospace components, and more. This particular sample is very clean with well-developed crystals sourced from the Boulder County, Colorado area. Weight: 273 g. Dimensions: 7x6x4 cm.

Specimen No. FERB02

Ferberite mineral with black crystals on white matrix.

LIMONITE (Iron Ore) | Orient Mine, Colorado, USA

Between 1880 and 1932, the Orient Mine was celebrated as the largest producer of iron ore in Colorado, yielding 2 million tons of limonite composed of hydrated iron(III) oxide-hydroxides in various compositions (general formula FeO·nH₂O). Weight: 21 g. Dimensions: 5x4x3.5 cm. The container is included as shown.

Specimen No. OR01
