- MacDonald Mine, Ontario (Canada) - Originally opened for feldspar in the early 1900s and later prospected for uranium in the 1950s. It became famous among mineralogists for containing rare-earth element pegmatite minerals. The mine is closed with reclamation completed in 2014. Digging and collected are currently prohibited on the property.
- Lynchburg Reservoir, Amherst County, Virginia (USA) - A noted locality for deeply-weathered pegmatite deposits containing unusually large crystals of the Allanite Group (specifically allanite-Ce) occurring as late replacement or accessory minerals in local pegmatite.
